Fixed costs subsidy: Start of the largest subsidy in the history of the Second Republic
The fixed costs subsidy can be applied for from this afternoon. It will help companies of all sizes and will compensate up to 75% of fixed costs and spoiled goods.
“With the fixed costs subsidy, we are launching what is probably the largest support program in the history of the Second Republic and it commences this afternoon. Companies of all sizes will be helped by this, whether it be a small village inn, a carpenter, plumber, fashion shop or nursery”, said Finance Minister Gernot Blümel at today’s press conference after the cabinet meeting. The state will compensate up to 75% of fixed costs for up to three months. Fixed costs include rent for business premises, company insurance premiums, interest expenditure, payments of leasing instalments and also spoiled goods that have lost more than 50% of their value due to the crisis.
We have made some adjustments to our original plans. The original plan had been that a subsidy of € 2,000 would need to be claimed at a minimum. This has been substantially reduced. The minimum amount which can be applied for is now € 500 and an advance of up to 50% of the total amount can be made”, said Finance Minister Blümel.
Applications for the fixed costs subsidy can be submitted via FinanzOnline from 20 May 2020 to 31 August 2021 at the latest, and the first payment can be made ten days later.
