Tax office: appointments possible from 18 May
While customers are advised to continue to use the online services for public health reasons, from 18 May, it will be possible make an appointment for urgent cases.
Vienna (OTS) - Because we reacted more quickly and decisively during the coronavirus crisis than many other countries, we can now potentially bring our country back up to speed more quickly. If the infection rate continues to decrease as hoped, we will gradually return to normal in various areas, and the finance department is among these.
Tax office information centres will therefore reopen for customer traffic from 18 May 2020. However, in the interest of everyone’s health and safety, the primary objective is and remains to avoid gatherings of large groups of people in order to minimise the risk of infection.
In general, most customer queries can be addressed quickly and easily online. Should a personal visit be urgently required, however, we ask that you make an appointment in advance
- online at bmf.gv.at/appointments
- by telephone on 050 233 700 (Mondays to Thursdays, 7:30 to 15:30 and Fridays, 7:30 to 12:00)
Appointments allow us to better plan and distribute customer traffic at the Infocenter throughout the day. In this way, the minimum distance between customers can be maintained at all times and the risk of infection massively reduced.
Additionally, customer concerns can be given sufficient time and unnecessary waiting times avoided. In the interest of visitors’ as well as employees’ health, personal meetings are not currently possible without a previous appointment. Customers only wishing to pick up or hand in a form in the self-service area do not need an appointment. Citizens wishing to enter the tax office are of course obliged to wear a face mask, which they will have to bring with them.
There are no changes to the tax authority’s telephone and digital services. With finanzonline.at, the tax office makes it possible for citizens to take care of their financial business around the clock, from any Internet access point and with a click of the mouse.
If you have any questions, our hotline is available on 050 233 790 (Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 17:00 throughout Austria at local rates). Our chatbot “Fred” is also available to answer questions at any time (chat.bmf.gv.at).
Forms, brochures and guides can be requested at any time at bmf.gv.at/online-order.
